Katherine Pogson creates exclusive leather accessories in limited editions and to commission.
As a designer-maker, I am interested in exploring the tactile and sculptural qualities of my chosen material through a variety of hand-worked techniques.
Since setting up my studio in 2000, I have aimed to combine thoughtful design with elements of traditional craft and my own repertoire of surface-manipulation techniques: moulding, gilding, stitch and more recently, print.
Clients have included Mulberry Home, Donna Karan, Priestman Goode, Molton Brown and Hussein Chalayan.
In 2011, I received an award from the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust to study aspects of digital print and design to enrich my hand-made work.
My book Complete Leatherwork was published by Collins and Brown in 2009.
Over the past ten years I have built up a reputation as a teacher of leather accessories design, pattern-cutting and production techniques, working with a number of emerging design businesses, and running short courses at Designer Courses.
